Unless you’ve been trapped in an underground garage in Education City for the past two weeks, you’ve probably seen the row of fourteen white balls in graduating sizes in front of the Sidra Medical and Research Center (SMRC) across from campus.
When Qatar Foundation and SMRC were contacted, they said they could not confirm to us what the sculptures are.
Like objects from outer space, no one knows where they came from—or why.
Workers on site would only say that it is a “a secret project” of Qatar Foundation.
Visitors to the site reported seeing a strange metal sculpture that looked like a child in a fetal position in the womb.
After being stonewalled by official and unofficial sources, The Daily Q reporters contacted an employee at the Qatar Museums Authority (QMA), who asked to be anonymous to keep his job. He said the sculpture was called, “The Unveiling of the Miraculous Journey” from the womb to birth.
It will be inaugurated on October 7, 2013.
