The Northwestern University in Qatar Women’s Basketball team recently won the semi-finals to qualify for the finals of the QF Inter-Universities Basketball Cup 2019. As the Northwestern girls scored point after point against Texas A&M, the Aggie fans kept cheering their team on. Despite winning the round and previous matches as well, only two fans showed up to watch them, including our reporter. As the girls gear up for their final against Georgetown on Saturday we felt it was important to talk to Sarah Shaath, captain of the team, to understand what basketball means to her and get her view on the lack of Wildcats in the stands at women’s basketball matches.
