7 things you can do on Qatar National Sports Day

With Qatar National Sports Day just around the corner on February 13, here’s a list of things you can do to celebrate the day with your friends and family.

1. Take part in National Sports Day activities around Qatar Foundation

Qatar Foundation will be hosting a full day of sports activities for all ages at seven locations in Education City: the HBKU Student Center, the Ceremonial Court, the Green Spine, the golf course, Al Shaqab, the Recreation Center, and Oxygen Park. Al Shaqab will have physical fitness challenges, while each of the other locations will have a range of sporting and community events all day, including a farmer’s market, Zumba, a treasure hunt, tennis, badminton, squash, chess, tug of war, yoga, pony rides, a special version of football for children with autism and much more. Apart from separate activities at each location, there will be Education City-wide events, such as a walkathon, an ultra-marathon, a 40km cycling route and a golf course tour. 2. Participate in the Qatar Fun Run Marathon

AFG College with the University of Aberdeen in collaboration with NBK Holding and Al Waab City will be hosting a Qatar Fun Run Marathon. All proceeds will go to Education Above All. There will also be plenty of fun sports activities, children’s activities and competitions with prizes to be won. You can sign up for the run here.

3. Show some love at Qatar Animal Welfare Society’s JogADog and PatACat

If you’re an animal lover, this event is for you. Get fit while showing your love to animals. Exercise the fun way: surrounded by puppies and kittens. Get more information here.

4. Get moving at Aspire Zone

Aspire Zone’s signature National Sports Day event, the Fun Run, is back by popular demand and will be open to all members of the community, including men, women, families, children and people with special needs. It will include a two-and-a-half-kilometer course around Khalifa International Stadium. Aspire Zone also will be hosting a range of other sports activities, including an indoor boot camp for ladies, a Zumba fiesta, beach soccer, dodgeball and synchronized swimming. 5. Challenge yourself at Losail Circuit

If you’re a lady who enjoys her privacy, Losail Circuit will be hosting ladies-only sports events this National Sports Day. There will be a cycling race, fitness classes, sports activities and healthy lifestyle workshops for all ages. Ladies can check in their abayas at special booths and have fun all day. 6. Check out “Koora Time” at Katara

The Qatar Football Association and Qatar Shell will be bringing back their award-winning corporate social responsibility program “Koora Time.” The all-day event will offer visitors a variety of football activities, including a ‘head-to-head’ dribbling challenge, a ‘Dive and Save’ goalkeeping competition and a virtual reality goal keeper game all day. 7. Relax and have fun at Lido Venezia Beach, Qanat Quartier, The Pearl
