Bachar M. El Tabbah, the events management coordinator at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University Student Center, passed away early Friday morning in Doha.

El Tabbah, 32, died in sleep, said Melissa Winter, the assistant director of student engagement at the center.

El Tabbah will be buried at Abu Hamour Cemetery after the Asr (afternoon) prayers, according to an official statement by HBKU. Condolences will be accepted at his family house in Al Khisah near IKEA.

According to Winter, El Tabbah had been with the HBKU Student Center for more than five years. He overlooked the operational duties of events held at the Student Center and worked closely with the students employed at the information desk of the building.

Students who worked with El Tabbah remember him as a hardworking person and a compassionate supervisor.

“He hardly treated us like employees under him, but as friends and co-workers. Also, he was very hard working, and I would see him flooded with work sometimes, but he never complained,” said Abdul Rafey Siddiqui, a student employee at the HBKU Student Center and a senior at Texas A&M University at Qatar. “All of the info desk staff had similar opinions about him and were devastated at this news.”
